Surprise Turnips! — Knuckle Down News, Week 11

Slightly Cliche Rainbow - Surprise Turnips! — Knuckle Down News, Week 11

Even though I’m out in the garden every day, every now and then something seems to appear out of nowhere. That was the case last week as I was harvesting a little salad mix and suddenly spotted the white turnips in the next bed over suddenly the size of tennis balls! I could have sworn there was nothing there the week before. Needless to say, you will be getting some rather large Tokyo turnips in your shares this week. Along with large turnips there will be be some long radishes again along with the more summery fare. For greens this week I am sending along some curly mustard and mizuna, you might recognize them from your spicy salad mix, but their more mature versions can be sautéed with a little garlic and tossed with noodles for a simple delicious stir fry (of course you can still eat them raw too!).

This weeks shares:

  • Tomatoes
  • Beans
  • Tokyo Turnips
  • Beets or Carrots
  • Eggplant
  • Scallions
  • Radishes
  • Zucchini
  • Mustard or Mizuna
  • Sweet Peppers
  • Herbs
