Three Raddishes

This has been the most unusual start to a season I’ve had since I took up farming!  It’s been so dry that after today’s rain I was just about to start doing a happy farmer rain jig…  when I was surprised to find that piles of large hail had come with the much anticipated storm! Thankfully the garden got good drink — although next time I’ll be sure to order my rain neat.

For all of my new members this season, you’ll find the CSA is set-up kind of like a market table but with a menu. We don’t pre-bag or bunch anything so you’ll want to bring smaller bags or containers as well as a shopping bag, basket or cooler to put everything into.

I’ll try to stay close-by to the table on the farm this week so I can introduce newcomers to the routine and welcome back everyone else in person! In the city I’ll need to be at the Dufferin Market for much of the pickup time, but you’ll find a chalkboard with a list of each item and how much you should take. If you’re confused just ask one of the other friendly members, or come find me at market.

The share this week is many shades of green, just as I expect the fields will be after this much needed rain. I can almost hear the sighs of relief ringing out in the dusk.

Garlic

This week, we’ll almost certainly have:

  • Spinach
  • Lettuce
  • Sugar Snap Peas Maybe next week!
  • Kale
  • Garlic Scapes
  • Collards
  • Green Onions
  • Cilantro

Looking forward to seeing you all soon,

— Jenny
