Dog Daze of Summer

many tomatoes - Dog Daze of Summer

What a hot and hazy daze of a summer we are having here at Knuckle Down. Each week rolls into the next in a bit of a blur for me this year, perhaps it is the heat or baby brain, or lack of adequate hydration or maybe this is just how summer goes!

This past week the tomatoes have started to come in for real and boy oh boy are they sweet, I might go so far as the say the sweetest I have ever grown. They will be coming to you now in all shapes and sizes, so I hope everyone is excited for tomato overload. Ernest and I also tested out the potatoes on the weekend, and they were deliciously creamy and rich. I think next week we should have new potatoes for all.

I guess we have reached the halfway point in the season from the point of view of veggie pick-ups so this seems like a good time to acknowledge that it has been an unusual year at the farm with Max taking up so much of my energy and focus. I feel so lucky that I get to be a mum and also a farmer but I will admit that it can be quite a challenge and often the farm isn’t getting quite the level of attention I would like to give it. I can’t express my thanks enough to you all for your support and patience as I try to find the right balance.
