Summer begins to turn for the door, but Fall is a patient host.

onion seed - Summer begins to turn for the door, but Fall is a patient host.

The Season of harvest festivals is upon us!

Many Summer crops are still producing heavy harvests, but joining them are the familiar faces of Fall: Cabbage, Potatoes and Salad Turnips are a few that will be making an appearance this week.

We are looking forward to some tender greens and sweet carrots as the nights cool down. Sonora and I did some thinning in the carrots and Winter Radishes, both of which are coming along, the former a little slower than I would like, but hopefully thinning will help.

Today we began to harvest the storage Onions, letting them cure a while in the sunshine before we have to haul them all inside to join the garlic.

This is also the time of year when I start trying to free up some space for Fall cover crops before it is too late to get a good stand established. Our Summer cover crop mix is still sitting unopened, but as they say, there is always next Season!

Sincerely,
β€” Jenny
