Hello Farm Friends,
Happy New Year! 🎉
It has been a little while since I’ve been in touch and although the garden is still resting I thought it was about time to stretch my writing muscles before they get too stiff and say hello.
Planning for the Spring is already well underway, but before I jump into our 2024 plans I wanted to let everyone know that I tallied up our Community Food Fund contributions and I’m so humbled to announce that we provided over $1,000 of beautiful food to folks and organizations who rely on donations over the course of 2023.
For a tiny farm like ours that feels like a pretty good thing and at a time when the world could use a little more good, I hope you will all join me in taking a moment to be proud of that.
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and small farms like mine couldn’t exist without that support, knowing that you have my back helps keep me going, even when it isn’t easy, so thank-you.
Peter got a photo of me heading off feeling like Santa Clause with our final donation, a big bag of garlic!
Speaking of garlic, with the mild weather in early December I just couldn’t help but plant an extra bed so some might say we will have too much garlic in 2024, but not me, I say there is no such thing as too much garlic.
For those of you who agree, I am offering a pound of 2023 garlic to anyone who signs-up for their 2024 CSA share and sends in a deposit before the end of February! Registration is now open.
I’ve got our seed orders in and am looking forward to a few more months of this slower pace. For a little longer the garden exists only in dreams of endless possibilities. Soon enough I will be throwing myself into whatever the 2024 growing season has in store for us. When the time comes, I will be ready.
Looking forward to catching up with you all soon, ’till then catch those rays of sunshine when and where you can.
SIncerely,
— Jenny
