New Sunday Market in Toronto + August Ahead

august ahead - New Sunday Market in Toronto + August Ahead

Hello Farm Friends,

We are almost at the end of July!

Between garlic and weeds and heat and the seemingly endless bean harvest I always find it hard to stay on top of my Fall planting schedule. For those of you who like to follow along with your own garden, although it is sometimes hard to get things established at this hot dry time of year, if you have a little space there are still lots of things you can plant in August. In fact, most of the vegetables that we think of as Spring crops can also be seeded now.

Spinach, Radishes, Kohlrabi, Carrots and even Peas are worth a shot, if we get a long Fall you will be glad for the bounty of frost tolerant veggies once the Tomatoes and Zucchini have stopped growing.

Here at Knuckle Down, we will be taking two weeks off of our regular Toronto Market, and Stephanie is back from her trip down South so hopefully we will get all caught up on our July seeding!

If you are in Toronto and are worried you will miss us at Dufferin Grove, never fear, we will be at the inaugural “Lazy Sunday Market” on Sunday August 4th being hosted by the Society Clubhouse at College and Dovercourt. We do hope you will come and find us there, our beans didn’t get the memo that we don’t have Market on Thursday and we will have lots of beautiful garlic too.

Sincerely,
— Jenny
