Hello Farm Friends,
It has been so heartening to have such an enthusiastic response to opening our CSA this year, it is not yet the end of February and we are already more than half full! If you signed up but haven’t sent a deposit yet, or if you haven’t had a chance to sign up yet there are still a few days left to be entered into our draw!
It’s so hard to make a living as a small business owner and that is why it is so important for us to support each other. There are so many great local businesses in the area, the three that I have included in our draw, I chose because of their ongoing support of my little farm. Here they are, in no particular order:
Farm Girl Cafe
Sometimes between farming and taking care of two young children it’s hard to get out in the world and just feel human for a moment. From the day they opened, Farm Girl Cafe has been a place where I can do that thanks to the care they have put into making a lovely space, good food, and, of course, delicious coffee. Not only that, but they are always eager to buy whatever vegetables I can bring them, even if it means having to pop by the farm to collect them after tucking their own kids into bed. If you haven’t been there yet, go!

Nine Hand Hill Farmhouse Food
I met Pam at the Stirling Market in the Village when she was just testing the waters for Nine Hand Hill, since then it seems like she has been swept up in a great wave of enthusiasm for locally produced prepared meals that even she couldn’t have predicted. Through each transformation of the business Pam has supported other local producers, including Knuckle Down Farm by sourcing local ingredients and now with the new Shop in Stirling also showcasing lots of local products. If you don’t have time to cook dinner but want that home cooked meal, Nine Hand Hill has you covered. I also hear they are now serving all day breakfast!

Creekside Yoga
Okay, I have to admit that I am one of those people who always intends to go to a Yoga class, but hasn’t quite made it yet. However I have it on good authority that Yoga classes at Creekside are fantastic. If anyone wants a Yoga buddy so we can hold each other accountable, I’m game! What I do know is that Jess and Nate from Creekside put their enthusiasm for local food and community building front and centre by volunteering huge amounts of their time making the Stirling Market in the Village a great little Market despite many hurdles to get it up and running again. The Market is so clearly a labour of love for them, we are glad we get to be a part of it. Small town Markets are hard to sustain, but if anyone can do it, Jess and Nate can.

Well, if you weren’t excited for our draw before, I hope you are now.
Here at the farm seeds have begun to arrive and I managed to dig my way into the greenhouse to begin getting it ready for Spring planting. It is hard to believe that in a few days I will fire up our heat table and begin seeding our extra early crops!
Sincerely,
— Jenny
