Hello Farm Friends,
We have entered the everything all at once part of the season, so if I seem a little more distracted than usual when you see me, it isn’t you, it is the twenty-five different things I’m trying to remember to do!
This week the tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants began to head out to the field and thank-goodness Sonora is returning next week, because we already need to prepare a whole new section of the garden for the next round of seedlings. We did find some time this week to give our earliest planting a good once over with our various hoes, so, the part of the garden that has been planted out so far is looking positively weed free.
All that rain and a little sunshine is bringing things along nicely, I even saw some flowers on our first Peas.
Everything over at the Small Spade greenhouse is absolutely bursting, Spicy Salad Mix, Lovely Lettuce Mix, Green Leaf Lettuce, and for the Spring CSA Beets in May! I think when you see them you will be as excited as I am, they are beautiful. I would say I should ask Lauren what she is putting in her compost, but as a matter of fact she already told me I should thank the goats. When I went over the last time I was just in time to meet some of the newest compost contributors and I’m not gonna lie, I don’t know how they ever get anything done over there when there are baby goats to snuggle.
But don’t worry I gave the goat back before I got into the van.
I want to give a little shout out to my new customers at the Cobourg Farmers’ Market, the weather last week was positively miserable and so many of them came out anyway, it looks like this week we will be rewarded for our trouble with a much nicer Saturday morning so I will make sure I have lots of lovely greens for you.
For everyone else, the online store is open and you can get your orders in tonight to pick-up at the farm and there are still a few weeks left to sign-up for our Summer CSA!
Tomato seedlings will be available until they are all gone. Pre-order on web store.
It’s full steam ahead now folks.
Sincerely,
— Jenny
