Hello Farm Friends,
We’re thankful for all the downpours we got during that crazy heatwave, as it helped pull our crops through to the other side. Unfortunately, our greenhouse finally lost its top on Wednesday evening.
Replacing that plastic and much of the wood on the greenhouse has been on the to do list for quite some time, so I guess it just got moved up in priority a little. With it so crazy hot right now, it seems like the best time of year not to have plastic on your greenhouse so I’m just glad none of the frame itself was damaged.
I know I have mentioned this to some of you, but this July I’m doing something I’ve never done before, taking a little vacation! At the moment I can’t quite see the relaxing on the beach part of that as I try to get a million and one things into place, but I’m so glad to have the best farm team along with a little help from a friend to make it possible.
If you’re not able to pick up your share during the regular pickup time, it may be difficult for me to organize an alternative for you this week or next as my staff have enough on their plates with me gone.
Our Peas are still producing like mad this week, but I expect if the heat keeps up they will be giving way to tomatoes maybe by the time I am back!
I’m also glad to report that after a battle with a swarm of cucumber beetles, it seems as though my staff were victorious and we will have the first of the Summer Squash this week.
In another first of the Season, fresh Garlic coming your way this week!
Looking forward to seeing everyone when I get back.
Sincerely,
— Jenny
