Onion Connoisseur

The Onion harvest began last week and it turns out Ernest quite enjoys helping with that task; he also quite enjoys sampling as he goes! Mmmm, delicious Onions. The cured onions will start arriving in your shares soon.

Over the past few weeks we’ve had other extra help on harvest days, with one visitor even arriving by bike. Many thank-yous to Ryan, Jessica, and James for helping us fill the new van to overflowing! A big thanks also to Molly who every week  comes to take care of the onion harvester.

We’re hoping for some rain soon, to give our fall crops a little relief. The Lettuce, Spinach and Celery as well as some late plantings of Salad mix and other greens would be very happy for a downpour (as would Farmers Jenny and Kate!)

Cart-load o' tomatoesThe heat is bringing us another load of ripe tomatoes and the peppers are all beginning to turn colour, so I guess there is a bright side.

This week’s line-up:

  • Beans
  • Green Onions
  • Swiss Chard
  • Summer Squash (Zucchini)
  • Beets
  • Tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Salad Mix
  • Carrots
  • Hot Peppers
