The wind today seems to be bringing with it some chilly Fall nights and although I haven’t seen any subzero temperatures in the forecast just yet, our low field could see Frost any day now.
As hard as it is for me to say goodbye to my beautiful Summer crops, I spent much of today pulling all of the remaining Peppers from the field. Eggplants and Zucchini will be coming out too, just in case.
CSA members, if you don’t see me around tomorrow, it’s because I’m busy getting all of our row covers sorted and in place so we can keep harvesting for another few weeks.
This Friday we will also be attending the Harvest Market in Stirling. Not only is it the final Farmers’ Market of the Season, it is also always lots of fun taking over Mill Street with so many great vendors. If you haven’t made it out to a Market yet this year, this is the one to come to, there will be cider, hot food, treats and general merriment and of course our beautiful veggies. In fact, moments ago Sam of Stirling Kitchen Catering stopped by to pick-up some ingredients for the delicious stew and salad he is planning.
Before that, of course I will be headed in to Dufferin Grove Farmers’ Market on Thursday, so if you are in Toronto throw on a sweater and come stock up for your Thanksgiving weekend!
SIncerely,
— Jenny
