Late Season Rain and one final planting

it is teh fals - Late Season Rain and one final planting

Hello Farm Friends,

At the end of the week last week and over the weekend I was finally able to begin preparing some beds for next year’s garlic crop. Of course, with the planting of garlic, comes thoughts of next Season and what I can change to help limit the stress of whatever our increasingly unpredictable weather might bring.

That being said, I’m trying to keep my focus on this Season for just a little bit longer with two more CSA pick-ups to go and at least a few more chilly Markets to attend! Not to mention I have an awful lot of drip tape to pull out of the garden and trellises to disassemble.

Hopefully we will get a few hours of sunshine to help keep the temptation to curl up by the fire from overtaking me too soon.

As promised, this week we have enough cauliflower from everyone and maybe even a little to take to Market. I had one of our purple Sweet Potatoes for lunch and it seemed sweet to me so I will be giving those out this week too!

Our little lettuces are a bit damaged from the crazy weather flip flops, but I think I can find enough for everyone to get at least a small one. Our Spicy Salad mix needs a little time to re-grow before I can harvest again, but I will have some Mustard Greens, Collards and other leafy greens for you, and I harvested a bunch of Broccolini shoots for those of you who love them.

I’m saving the rest of the potato harvest for a slightly less muddy day, but we will have Pumpkins and Squash again this week if the weather is making you think of warm soups and stews.

Sincerely,
— Jenny
