Join the Feast: Fall Harvest CSA Sampler Sign-up Open

Hello Farm Friends,

The weather is feeling mighty Fallish, so I decided to take a peek at our Squash and Pumpkin patches. It looked like some of our earlier varieties are ready for harvesting, so we will see if we can add those to our CSA shares this week in honour of September’s arrival!

As promised last week, I’m opening up a few spots for a small Fall Harvest Share, that will run for 8 weeks beginning Sept. 8th. If you have been thinking of joining us, now is a great time to try out the CSA with a shorter commitment.

The wet weather continues and the garden seems happy to absorb all that rain. Our Spicy Salad Mix is looking bigger, our Turnips are ready and we have a nice germination on our Spinach. In fact, our Spring Spinach dropped seed after it bolted, and I noticed lots of volunteers growing under our pumpkin patch!

Celery and Celeriac are also happy about the rain, so we might have a decent crop this year because they aren’t relying on my under watering like they usually are.

We did have enough dry hours last week to get our lettuce planted and lots of cold hardy Fall Brassicas, a little late, but I’m crossing my fingers for nice long growing season.
