Move over pumpkins, arugula and radish are the true fall spices!

Hello Farm Friends,
Today I’m trying to get as many cracked tomatoes as I can off the plants and into the kitchen so I don’t keep getting distracted by them every time I pass the tomato rows in the garden! I probably won’t get to them all, so any of my CSA members who want some extras for sauce just ask when you see me.

Last week we managed to get what will likely be our final seedings of greens and radishes into the field and lots of cover crop seed as well just as it began to rain. Hopefully this will put us in great shape both for the end of this harvest season, but also for the Spring.

Greenhouse repairs continue, but we aren’t quite ready for the new plastic just yet. I’m hopeful we can get it done with another good day or two of working on it. In the meantime all of the rain we have been getting has likely done a good job of washing out some of the salts that tend to build up in greenhouse soil from irrigating with hard water all the time.

Although the pace does feel much more relaxed at this time of year, between harvesting and the endless weeding there is still plenty to keep us busy.

Not to mention we have a few other big jobs on the horizon, include harvesting all of our Squash and Pumpkins for curing, it looks to be a great haul this year. Getting beds ready for garlic planting is also on the list and of course making rainy day garlic bundles for our Winter Markets.

We are also hoping to get some compost down this Fall as we are always have too many jobs to do in the Spring!
